Guiding Principles of the Reggio Emilia Approach to Education
Image of the Child
At EtonHouse E-Maison International Pre-School, Reggio Inspired we view every child as competent, curious, capable, creative, natural researcher who has the desire for knowledge and interested in connecting to the world. We empower children to think, question, investigate, explore and help navigate the journey of learning.
The Role of the Teacher
The teacher plays a critical role by being a partner in the child’s journey of discovery and recognizing learning possibilities and opportunities. In order to further the learning process, teachers listen, observe, inquire, document, work together and reflect upon the experiences of each child.
Environment as a Third Teacher
The environment of the school, its classroom common spaces and outdoor garden are viewed as the “third teacher”. Teachers intentionally organize, support and plan for various spaces that are thoughtful, imaginative, enticing and respect the image of the child.
The Role of Parents
EtonHouse E-Maison International Pre-School, Reggio Inspired value parents as participants in their child¹s learning process. Parents are seen as partners and as the child’s first teacher. We encourage parents to participate in project work, special events and the daily life of the school.
Documentation
Your child’s day at EtonHouse E-Maison International Pre-School, Reggio Inspired is filled with meaningful experiences and thoughtful interactions. In order to understand children and the way they learn, we document all aspects of the learning process. All moments are considered pieces of the process and are made visible in the classroom as well shared with parents on the school app “Story Park”.
Inquire-Think-Learn Curriculum Framework
Optimizing your children’s brain development from their early years is critical to learning for life. EtonHouse E-Maison International Pre-School, Reggio Inspired leverages the inquiry approach, which encourages your child to imagine, innovate, invent and collaborate. This approach develops all the necessary skills and disposition required to succeed in the 21st century.
At EtonHouse E-Maison International Pre-School, Reggio Inspired we do not just work with academic content (number, reading, writing) but aim to support the holistic development of the child, that is their physical, emotional, social, intellectual, creative and language development.
